November 24, 2020 Memorial of St. Andrew Luc & Companions
For a number of years now, the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma has sponsored a local March for Life near the anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States. We have gathered to pray, march, and speak out on behalf of the unborn, who have no voice to defend themselves. We gather, too, in prayer and deep sympathy for the many women and men whose lives have been shattered by abortion.
Despite the duration of the fight and setbacks along the way, we cannot grow slack in defending innocent lives and offering expectant mothers the support they need. We cannot give up on ending this grave evil in our country.
To strengthen our witness to the sanctity of life, the Diocese of Tulsa will begin partnering with the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City in sponsoring the new Oklahoma March for Life. It will take place on the morning of Friday, January 22 at the state capitol in Oklahoma City. In this way, our witness to life will be all the more focused and visible. The new state-wide event will take the place of our local Tulsa March for Life.
Pro-Life organizations, ministries, and parishes from our Diocese are encouraged to support this new initiative. Buses will be chartered from Tulsa to Oklahoma City to help assist with transportation. The March will include live speakers, music, food trucks, and booths for Pro-Life organizations. It will be a great event for families, and people of all faiths are invited to join us.
I wish to thank all those who have organized and supported our Tulsa-based Pro-Life activities, especially the Tulsa March for Life. As we now take our witness to the state capitol, I hope members of our Diocese will come out in large numbers to show their commitment to saving unborn children and their mothers.
For the Unborn,
Most Rev. David A. Konderla Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma
