October 8, 2014 - I am happy to announce the success of our recent diocesan campaign, Rooted in Faith, forward in Hope. Our goal was set at $12 million and as of today, that goal has been reached and surpassed. We have $15,255,787 as of October 1, 2014. Besides the campaign having succeeded by reaching and surpassing its goal, it has also given evidence of the many parishioners’ love of the Church. Fifty percent (50%) of the goal is dedicated to the priests and seminarians of the diocese – for the priests when they reach their retirement and for the future priests who are studying in preparation for ordination. Your gifts reflect your gratitude for the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
Thirty percent (30%) of the campaign was for our children whose parents are struggling to pay the ever-rising costs of sending their children to a Catholic school. Then, we must look beyond the borders of metropolitan Tulsa to the vast areas in the rural parts of the diocese. These far-flung parishes constitute nearly 20% of the Catholic population but are out of sight and unfortunately at times, out of mind. Because of the success of the campaign, we will now begin a rural outreach to evangelize these areas and to give support to the pastors and people of these parishes. Finally, twenty percent (20%) of the campaign is dedicated to each parish in the diocese. This translates into a greater stability and continuity as each parish can have some funds immediately available for those unexpected setbacks such as a leaky roof, broken boiler, or any one of a number of the ever-aging physical makeup of our buildings.
