September 22, 2014 - On Sept. 21 several hundred Catholic faithful filled Holy Family Cathedral for “Eucharistic Exposition and Procession in Solemn Reparation” led by Bishop Edward J. Slattery of Tulsa at 7 p.m. in response to a Satanic “black mass” that was held at the Oklahoma City Civic Center at the same time. Over a thousand Catholics and other Christians gathered outside the Civic Center in Oklahoma City to protest the occasion through prayer, singing and a procession led by Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.
Satanist Adam Daniels organized the black mass at the Civic Center, which had approximately 40 people in attendance. In addition to the thousands of Christians that gathered to protest the event, one petition had over 100,000 signatures in opposition to the spectacle, garnering national news attention. Still, the Civic Center allowed the black mass citing freedom of religion and speech concerns.
