National Scouts Religious Awards
The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of the Boy Scouts of America as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our nation. The NCCS provides four awards for Roman Catholic Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Venturers to earn.

Religious Recognition ProgramsLIGHT OF CHRISTThe purpose is to help the Cub Scout aged 6-7 develop a personal relationship with Jesus. With the parents' active assistance and participation in this program, it is hoped that the Cub will come to see Jesus as a real person and his friend.PARVULI DEIThe purpose of the Parvuli Dei (Children of God) emblem is to help young boys, age 8-10, explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their families and parishes, and also to develop a good, positive self-image through the contributions they can make to the group or community.AD ALTARE DEIThe purpose of the Ad Altare Dei ( to the altar of God) program is to help Catholic Youth of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized in chapters based on the seven sacraments. The seven Sacraments are a primary means toward spiritual growth. This program is available to any youth of the Roman Catholic Faith who is registered in a BSA Troop or Crew.POPE PIUS XIIThe Pope Pius XII award is Catholic Scouting's church-related ministries and vocation program. Itis available to Venturing Crew Members and Boy Scouts 15 years old and older. The programs deals with different life choices (single, married, religious, ordained), occupations and ministries in the church as calls from God. It includes youth led discussions on current issues facing the church and society, which are normally included as part of a Pius XII retreat or day of recollection.

Saint George TrekThe Saint George Trek is The National Catholic Committee on Scouting’s® high adventure Catholic leadership program for older Catholic Boy Scouts and Venture Crew members at Philmont Scout Ranch. The program brings Catholic high school youth from around the country together with selected priests, religious and seminarians for eleven days of backpacking in the context of a vocation retreat.The Diocese of Tulsa Catholic Committee on Scouting is allowed to nominate one or two Boy Scouts or Venture Crew members for participation in the Trek. Selection of participants is made on the basis of demonstrated maturity, physical ability, leadership potential, an interest the life of the Church and an openness to the discernment of vocation.
