Cursillo Encourages us to live what is fundamental to being a Christian. Cursillo promotes the creation of small community groups, with whom we 'leaven' our environment, and live the life we are called to by Christ. Cursillo is an experience of people gathered into a small community by Christ to promote their growth in grace and to intensify their ability to be His witnesses in the world.

Cursillo a Spanish word meaning "short course". Cursillo in Christianity means short course in Christainity. It is a lay Catholic movement of the Church with its own method to live Christian ideals. To be a Christian in the fullest sense, in the everyday activities of life- with family, in your workplace and community.
It is not merely a retreat. The material covered is as old as Christ's message, uniquely experienced in the spirit of community, which is the real joy of the Cursillo weekend.

Twice a year, a Cursillo 3-day weekend is held separately for men and women in English and Spanish to introduce candidates to Cursillo and provide an experience to enable them to follow Jesus more faithfully and effectively. A team of religious and lay people present a series of talks for candidates and the entire group calls upon the Holy Spirit for enlightenment and guidance. From Thursday evening until Sunday evening, lay people and clergy come together to gain a deep, permanent, living awareness of treasure and responsibility of their faith. Candidates may come with many questions and apprehensions, but they leave full of joyful enthusiasm as brothers and sisters in Christ, determined to extend His kingdom.
A candidate should be in good standing with the Catholic Church. Each person who participates in Cursillo needs a sponsor, that is, someone who has already participated in a Cursillo weekend. The sponsor will provide the candidate with information about Cursillo and provide an application form. The signature of a priest is needed on the application form.
