An expert on Joan of Arc, an EWTN TV and radio host and a mother of 10 children are guest speakers at the tenth annual Oklahoma Catholic Women’s Conference on March 25 at the Reed Conference Center, 5750 Will Rogers Rd. in Midwest City.
Professor Siobhan Nash-Marshall will speak on lessons to be learned from the life of Joan of Arc. She is a professor of Philosophy at Manhattanville College in Harrison, New York where she serves as the Clark Chair of Christian Philosophy and the chair of the Philosophy Department.
Gloria Purvis is the creator and host of the EWTN series Authentically Free at Last that deals with modern challenges to the expression and understanding of authentic human freedom. She is also the host of Morning Glory, which airs 7-8 a.m. on the EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network. Inspired by experiences during Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, she will relate how she and her husband came to teach members of their parish about human sexuality and Pro-Life issues.
Using personal stories and referencing teachings of the Saints, Patti Maguire Armstrong will talk about the eternal value of our lives according to God’s will in comparison to worldly success. She is a correspondent for Our Sunday Visitor newspaper and the National Catholic Register. She also works in marketing tor Teresa Tomeo communications, is an award winning author and was the managing editor and co-author of Ascension Press’ best selling Amazing Grace series.
In addition to the speakers, the conference will include Mass with Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, Adoration, Reconciliation and vendor area. Participants are asked to also bring donations of personal hygiene products, baby supplies and gift cards for gas and groceries for the Sanctuary Women’s Development Center, a service of Catholic Charities that provides resources and support for low income and homeless women and children.
Advance registration through March 1 is $40 and includes lunch. From March 2-17, registration is $55. After March 17, registration is $65 and accepted as space permits.
