What is the Faith Formation Conference? Why is it being held as a live webinar?
 
We’ve changed the name of our annual summer event from the Catechetical Conference to the Faith Formation Conference for one simple reason: to make it clear that  all adults in the diocese are invited and encouraged to attend. Afterall, we are all called to give witness to our Faith. Parents, especially, have a central role in leading their children to Christ. All adult Catholics will benefit from the variety of talks offered at the Faith Formation Conference. 
 
Due to the public health and financial situation that the COVID-19 crisis has brought about, we will not hold our summer Faith Formation Conference in person this year. Instead, we will present the same theme in a simpler format.  Theology of the Body: Know It, Live It, Share It will take place as a live webinar featuring dynamic talks, Q&A, music and more. The webinar allows all Catholics to attend even if they have health concerns or children at home to supervise, and it eases the financial commitment on all sides. 
 
We hope and plan to hold the Faith Formation Conference in person next year as usual with specialized sessions for catechetical ministries. This year there will be separate events to support the work of parish catechists. We hope they will attend both the webinar and the other events as they are able.
 
Who is speaking at the webinar?
 
Our keynote for the webinar this summer, Monica Ashour, MTS, M Hum, is an international speaker, author of numerous books for children and adults, an expert teacher of  Theology of the Body, and the president of TOBET (Theology of the Body Evangelization Team). Dynamic speakers and TOBET members Gabriel and Carola Egusquiza will offer talks in Spanish. Sensitive topics will be discussed respectfully in English and in Spanish such as same-sex attraction, gender ideology, and Natural Family Planning. Parents and teachers will have the opportunity to learn how to share this teaching with their children and students, thereby helping them to embrace a positive understanding of their bodies and sexual identity.
 
Bishop David Konderla will join us for prayers and blessings. Fr. Elkin Gonzales, Vicar General, will offer a presentation in English but available in print as a Spanish translation addressing the importance of the body for evangelization and discipleship. In Spanish, a panel of priests and laity will answer tough questions about living the Church’s teaching in our world today. Music will be provided by Michael John Piorier.

Registration for the webinar opens August 6 and will be posted here and sent to parish leaders for distribution via email and parish websites. 
 
The webinar is free. Donations are welcome and will be possible once registration opens on August 6.

A recording of the webinar will be available for viewing the week after the event.
