The Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma offers different formal opportunties for eligible families to possibly receive tuitition assistance. These scholarships are intended to assist with overall tuition expenses, but are not intended to cover the full cost of tuition. It is the expectation of the Diocese that each family pays some portion of tuition.*
All financial aid applications are processed by an independent verification system, FACTS.
A complete, verified application must be received by April 15. It is recommended that you submit your application no later than April 1 to allow at least two weeks to verify through the application portal.
The Saint Francis of Assisi Tuition Assistance Trust has been distributing funds since the year 2000 to eligible Catholic families in the Diocese who might not normally be able to afford a Catholic school education. To be eligible for these trust funds, the student(s) must be a practicing Catholic, and at least one parent/guardian applicant must be a practicing Catholic registered in a parish within the Diocese. An annual fundraiser is held on or around the Feast of Saint Francis in October each year to help grow the corpus of the trust. Learn m ore about the trust here and how you can donate to help our students.Veritas is a scholarship granting organization (SGO) that provides scholarships to K-12 students in the Diocese of Tulsa to attend accredited Catholic schools in the Diocese. Gifts made through this program provide scholarships to children who would otherwise not be able to afford a quality Catholic eduation. This program is an easy way to give to Catholic schools in the Diocese and receive an Oklahoma state income tax credit. Learn more about Veritas here.Friends of Catholic Education is a tuition assistance trust commited to ensuring that Catholic education is available to all children, regardless of race, religion, or affluence. The fine parish schools of St. Catherine, Sts. Peter and Paul, Holy Family Classical School, and Instituto Bilingue Guadalupano at St. Francis Xavier are the institutions assisted by this trust. When choosing the recipients, each school’s pastor and principal consider the level of need for each individual family. Donations are matched dollar for dollar. Learn more about the FOCE.
In 2023, the State of Oklahoma passed a measure regarding the Parental Choice Tax Credit scholarship program. This act provides refundable Oklahoma state income tax credits of $5,000 to $7,500 per child to parents whose children attend private schools. Effective in January 2024, the parental tax credits will tremendously impact families now in Catholic schools and those considering Catholic schools. With the new funds available to families, the diocese expects greater demand for Catholic education. Learn more about the PCTC here.
Since 2010, the Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarships have provided qualifying students with a school voucher to attend an eligible private school of their parents’ choice. Under this Oklahoma state law, Henry Scholarships help parents/guardians cover the cost of tuition at eligible private schools.
Henry Scholars are students who have/are:
- special needs or disabilities
- adopted from foster care
- in an out-of-home foster care placement
- a military parent who transferred from out of state
- a military parent who transferred from out of country
- in an out-of-home placement through the Office of Juvenile Affairs
- been served by SoonerStart
Henry Scholarship by the numbers:
- The average Henry scholarship value was $7,056 during the 2019-2020 academic year.
- Approximately 100,000 Oklahoma students are eligible to apply for Henry Scholarships.
- There are 996 students currently receiving Henry Scholarships.
