Hospitality is an important part of the Birthright Parenting Classes. Many of the mothers are resettling refugees from Myanmar or immigrants from south of the border. Soon, the refugees from Afghanistan may seek us out for help, Naturally, they are interested in learning our American ways. However, being “Americanized” can be a mixed bag!
Birthright wants to help our mothers understand our culture, for better or worse. We also want them to preserve their traditional values of faith and family. In our classes our teachers offer wholesome and practical child- rearing information to conscientious parents.
Birthright of Tulsa begin their fall Parenting Class session in late September. Classes will run until early November. Our volunteer teachers provide lessons on the typical expectations of a baby’s growth; physically, emotionally, and cognitively with safety features interwoven. Translators help communicate our lessons. Lunch is served to all, and door prizes add to the fun. Volunteers are always needed to participate as teachers, lunch servers, childcare givers or just drop off a dessert or side dish for our clients. If interested, please call 918-481-4884 or email
