Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter, the Apostle
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma,
I do not see it coincidental that we are celebrating our 50" anniversary as a diocese during the Eucharistic Revival in the Church in the United States. Both provide an opportunity for us to reorient our focus back on the centrality of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, "the source and summit of the Christian life" (CCC 1324). Our continual growth as a diocese is dependent upon our ability to return with our whole heart to this communion of love between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
I want to personally invite you to encounter Jesus in the Eucharist by attending the 10* National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis from July 16-22, 2024! This is a tremendous opportunity to further your conviction of the greatness of this gift of Jesus' Body and Blood along with 80,000 lay faithful and to bring this fire back to your parish.
There are people in the world and in our pews that are hungry for a true encounter with the Lord. The National Eucharistic Congress is giving us the tools necessary to encounter these people. My prayer is that we can respond generously and courageously to Holy Spirit's invitation and the Lord's call for each of us to "go and make disciples." I invite you, current and prospective pilgrims, to learn more about the National Eucharistic Congress at an informational meeting on March 19, 7pm, at Holy Family Cathedral in Heiring Auditorium. Another meeting is scheduled for June 13, 6:30pm, also at Holy Family Cathedral Heiring Auditorium.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to Rev. Joshua Votruba, Diocesan Chair of the Eucharistic Revival Committee, at [email protected]
In Christ,
Most Rev. David Konderla, Bishop Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma
