Because of your Faith & Works donation, the priests, deacons, and lay people in the Prison Ministry of the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma are able to effectively minister and evangelize to the incarcerated in prisons throughout the diocese.
As reported in the March 2018 Eastern Oklahoma Catholic
http://faithdigital.org/Tulsa/DT0318/, “Obedience through Suffering” pgs. 16-17, J.D. Langston’s life was changed because of a program supported by the Diocese of Tulsa Prison Ministry called Kairos. According to the Kairos website
www.kairosprisonministry.org, Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. is an interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families. The Kairos programs take the participants on a journey that demonstrates the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
J.D.’s story is poignant, and because of the mercy and kindness of prison ministry leaders and Kairos volunteers, he was able to turn his life around and has now become a Christian leader within prison. “When you are in prison, you do not have much exposure to people who show genuine care, love and concern for you. I am forever indebted to the brothers and sisters of Kairos. If I could sum up their importance in one work, it would be ‘hope’. They show God’s love and that people care, even when most of society and our families have given up on us.”
If you have an interest in or feel called to work with prison ministry or Kairos in particular, please contact the Director of Prison Ministry, Deacon Kenny Longbrake, at
