Father Alex Kennedy enters eternal rest

         

            August 18, 2017 - Father Alex Kennedy, the pastor of St. Elizabeth parish in Grove, has unexpectedly passed away. His funeral arrangements are pending.

            Reverend Alex Kennedy was ordained to the priesthood on June 1, 1990. After his ordination, he was pastor at Sacred Heart and Assumption parishes in Muskogee, and was an associate pastor at St. Joseph in Muskogee. He subsequently served as pastor of St. Monica and St. Augustine, both in Tulsa. Next came his assignments as pastor of Holy Ghost in Vinita and then St. Elizabeth in Grove, where he served until his passing.

            Father Kennedy was an expert in bioethics, receiving a certificate from the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia. He was a member of the National Catholic Bioethics Center and the Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics. Father Kennedy also served as the chairman of the ethics committee at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville and served on the Institutional Review Board for St. John Health System as well as their ethics committee.

            “Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
