GO for Catholic Schools Helps Diocesan Schools and Your Bottom Line!

As Oklahoma taxpayers and supporters of Catholic school education, I want to make you aware of a wonderful Oklahoma tax credit of 50%  (you can receive a 75% state tax credit of your donation amount for a two-year commitment) that benefits Catholic schools in the Diocese of Tulsa including Bishop Kelley High School. GO takes advantage of the Oklahoma Equal Opportunity Education Scholarship Act approved by the state legislature in 2011.

GO for Catholic Schools is a scholarship granting organization that allows individuals to receive up to a  $1,000 tax credit, married couples up to a  $2,000 tax credit, and businesses up to  $100,000 tax credit. A deduction on your federal tax return may also be taken.

We’ve created a 2.5 minute video that we believe will be worth your time and the time of your friends and family members who are looking for new tax deductions, even if they don’t have a history of supporting Catholic education. Click the image below for the video:



It is a win-win for taxpayers/donors and financially strapped families who would not be able to afford a Catholic school education without the support of funds from GO for Catholic Schools. Last year alone, nearly $558,000 was donated to Go For Catholic Schools and distributed to schools in our Diocese this year.  

One Tulsa-area business (owned by a non-Catholic family with no children having attended a Catholic school) gave $100,000 to GO in 2016 and directed 75% to Bishop Kelley. That bumped BK’s share of the $558,000 in total GO scholarships to $132,100. That certainly helped a lot of students come to or return to Bishop Kelley and that’s what we all want!  

This year, up to 90% of your gift to GO can be directed to one or more schools (it’s your choice) with the balance of your gift going into a scholarship pool that’s directed to Catholic schools with the greatest needs.

With January 1st a mere 17 days away, the deadline for 2017 tax credits and deductions that benefit GO is just around the corner.
