Deacon Roy Callison and Susan Callison with the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City American Indian Outreach Office will host a Listening Session on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax, Oklahoma following the 9 am Mass. The session will be held in the parish hall and is open to the public, as a forum for people to discuss their experiences in former Catholic Indian boarding schools in Oklahoma.
A prayer vigil is planned for Thursday, October 28, at 3 pm, outside the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester for John M. Grant, who is scheduled to be executed at 4 pm. Prayers will be offered for Gay Carter, whom Grant was convicted of murdering in 1998, as well as for Grant and the corrections officers taking part in the execution. The vigil will conclude when word is received that the sentence has been carried out.
